Sienna Miller has confirmed she’s leaving New York this summer and moving back to her hometown of London.
The 41-year-old actress explained that her 10-year-old daughter Marlowe, who she shares with her ex Tom Sturridge, has spent most of her life living in the Big Apple, but a recent incident confirmed to Sienna that it was time to move back to the UK.
‘I was so in love with New York since I was 18 years old,’ Sienna explained.
‘It’s a powerful place. But I just recently fell out of love with it.’
The star was speaking on Bruce Bozzi’s Table For Two podcast, and when asked by the host ‘what’s driving her back home?’ Sienna replied: ‘I’ll tell you what happened.’
She went on: ‘I’ve rented for years. My kid has moved from place to place to place, it’s nomadic and that’s what it is to be an actor. But I was like, no, New York is home, so I bought a place in the West Village.’
The actress continued: ‘A week after moving in, I opened the front door to take my daughter to school and there was a human s**t on my doorstep.
‘I just hoisted her over the human s**t and took her to the bus.’
Sienna grimly added: ‘You can never unfeel the weight of a human s**t.’
The Alfie star also noted: ‘And I grew up in England where there’s a national health service, so [the fact that] people who are in need of help [here] can’t get it becomes increasingly sad.
‘And then lockdown drills at school. I didn’t grow up with guns.’
She also pointed out that lots of people she loves left New York after the pandemic which made her ‘revaluate her priorities’.
‘Honestly, after the pandemic, so many people that I love left the city and went back home,’ she shared.
‘I was in New York for the pandemic and being far away from my family was rough with no opportunity to get back.
‘I think we all revaluated our priorities, mine being to be close to the people I love.’
