Lana Del Rey had a very on-brand mishap when she returned to the stage after three years away.
The US star asked fans to help her find her vape after losing it while performing in Brazil over the weekend – classic Lana.
Lana, 37, took to the stage at MITA Festival 2023 in Rio De Janeiro, marking her first live gig since November 2019.
The Born to Die hitmaker looked radiant in a pretty chiffon dress with purple pattern, smiling all the way through her set and clearly glad to be back in front of her fans.
At one point, she also covered her long, brunette tresses with a Marilyn Monroe-inspired blonde wig as she sang some older tracks, as well as tunes from Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, which she released earlier this year.
It was all going swimmingly until Lana – real name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant – misplaced her favourite possession.
As her band started beforming the title track from Normal F***ing Rockwell, the singer asked the crowd: ‘And also if you see my vape on stage, can you find my vape on stage?’
One reveller appeared to spot the vape in front of the crowd.
Running forwards, the Summertime Sadness vocalist asked: ‘You did? Where, though? Oh, all the way in the pit?’
Alas, the story does not have a happy ending, as Lana and her vape were not reunited.
Realising the e-cigarette was out of her reach, she gave up.
‘F**k it,’ Lana told the crowd.
Lana has truly burst back onto the live music scene with a bang, as she has a string of major gigs lined up for this year.
In June, she’ll perform at Glastonbury in Worthy Farm, with headliners including Sir Elton John, Arctic Monkeys, and Guns N’ Roses.
However, she’s been vocal about the lack of female headliners on the roster this year.
The Blue Jeans singer – who’ll perform on the Other Stage on the Saturday at this year’s event – joined in the backlash due to Glasto’s all-male headline acts and lack of diversity.
Fans of Lana were also left raging after noticing she didn’t have prominent positioning as one of the stage headliners, with top billing – as always – given to the Pyramid Stage acts and the rest of the line-up listed in alphabetical order.
Reacting to her not being specifically announced as the Other Stage headliner, the singer commented under Glastonbury’s Instagram post: ‘Thanks for announcing that I was headlining the other stage. Thumbs up.’
She is also reported to have added from her personal account: ‘Well, I’m actually headlining the 2nd stage. But since there was no consideration for announcing that we’ll see.’
Meanwhile, she’s also been confirmed as the final headliner for BST Hyde Park.
Joining the bill for the festival’s 10th anniversary, Lana will perform alongside the likes of Pink, Billy Joel, and Bruce Springsteen.
She’ll close the festival in what is bound to be spectacular fashion on July 9.
