Florence Pugh’s career is booming, but she’s recently revealed how some people in the film world weren’t too happy about her taking off to the Hollywood hills.
The Marvel Universe is the place where countless Hollywood legends have achieved a huge amount of fame and money, and Florence is now part of that star-studded gang.
Oxford-born Florence climbed up the ranks in the indie film scene for her parts in Lady Macbeth, Malevolent, and Midsommar.
But now, as she’s set to begin shooting Marvel’s Thunderbolts with Harrison Ford this summer, Florence has revealed the indie film world wasn’t too happy with her making it big.
In an interview with Time, Florence said: ‘So many people in the indie film world were really p***ed off at me.
‘They were like, “Great, now she’s gone forever,”‘ she added.
‘And I’m like, no, I’m working as hard as I used to work. I’ve always done back-to-back movies. It’s just people are watching them now. You just have to be a bit more organized with your schedule.
The Brit’s first Marvel appearance was in Black Widow in 2021, while she also made a cameo in the Disney+ show Hawkeye.
Most recently, Florence starred alongside As It Was singer Harry Styles in Don’t Worry Darling and also in psychological thriller, The Wonder.
The star also revealed in the recent interview that she’s picky about roles since she was once told to lose weight for a part.
Although she didn’t mention the film in question, Florence revealed that she took a step back from Hollywood after she refused the offer in order to work out what she wanted from her career.
She was tempted back into Hollywood when she starred alongside Dwayne Johnson in the WWE film Fighting With My Family (2019).
‘The person I came back to was a female wrestler with muscles and big thighs who made her own name as a champion,’ she recalled.
‘I quite liked that because the last time I’d been there I was told I needed to lose weight – it was just so not the person I wanted to be.’
