Chris Daukaus discusses his light heavyweight debut at UFC 289

Chris Daukaus has some new territory to get used to.

For starters, Daukaus is settling in life as a girl dad as he and his wife just recently welcomed their daughter in the world.

That transition has been a really easy one as Daukaus loves his wife, son, and daughter very much and his family life has been very special to him throughout his career.

The other transition the Pennsylvanian has, comes in his professional life.

Daukaus has always been a heavyweight fighter and a good one at that.

After a great heavyweight career on the northeastern regional scene, Daukaus debuted with the UFC in 2020 and quickly rose to prominence with wins over Parker Porter, Aleksei Oleinik and Shamil Abdurakhimov.

However, after that, things got tough as Daukaus fought in main events against Derrick Lewis, Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstrik and all ended with Daukaus being knocked out.

Now after a great heavyweight run, Daukaus is making at big change for his next fight.

At UFC 289 on June 10, Daukaus will be making his light heavyweight debut when he fights UFC veteran Khalil Rountree.

So far, Daukaus likes the move, and he feels confident that he can make a big run in the division and UFC 289 will mark the first step in that process.

In fact, Daukaus is super excited for this light heavyweight debut as he admits he should have made the move a long time ago. He regrets taking the Derrick Lewis fight due to the size difference and he feels that he waited too long to make this move.

Nonetheless, Daukaus has made the move now and all what’s left to do now, is to step on the scale and scrap on fight night.

Ahead of the debut at 205 pounds, Daukaus spoke with MyMMANews about his upcoming fight with Rountree, his decision to move down to light heavyweight and the birth of his daughter.
